FAQ
What is a bangle bracelet and how does it differ from a chain bracelet?
A bangle bracelet has a rigid, structured shape that maintains a round contour on the wrist, unlike a chain bracelet, which drapes softly and follows your hand's movement. A bangle brings a clean, sculptural vibe, and at Indira you'll find minimalist versions in 925 Sterling Silver and gold-plated silver, as well as designs with natural gemstones.
Closed bangle or open cuff — which suits me best?
A closed bangle is a complete circle that slides over the hand and sits snug on the wrist. The cuff has a small opening, slips on from the side, and can be gently adjusted, making it more forgiving of size differences. If you prefer a fuss-free fit, a cuff style like Knot Cuff or Silver Cross is the practical choice.
How do I choose the right size for a bangle bracelet?
Measure your wrist circumference with a tailor's measuring tape, just above the wrist bone. For closed bangles, the piece needs to pass over the hand, so allow a few extra millimeters. With cuff styles, the opening allows a bit of adjustment and the fit is more flexible. You'll find details in our size guide.
What materials are Indira bangle bracelets made of?
Most are crafted from 925 Sterling Silver (92.5% silver) or from 925 Sterling Silver plated with a layer of gold of about 2 microns, in yellow-gold tones. Some designs incorporate natural gemstones such as amber, lapis lazuli, black onyx, or amethyst, while others add a discreet sparkle with zirconia. Indira does not use titanium or nickel.
Can I wear multiple bangle bracelets together?
Yes, and stacking is one of the most beautiful ways to wear them. Pair a sleek bangle with a stone-set one, or mix silver with gold plating for a subtle contrast. Delicate pieces sit gracefully side by side without overwhelming the wrist.
Does silver tarnish, or does the plating wear over time?
Light tarnishing of silver is a natural process, not a flaw — it comes from contact with perfume, lotion, or sweat and can be removed with a special polishing cloth. On plated pieces, the gold layer can gradually wear with frequent wear; this is normal behavior for plated jewelry. You can protect it by keeping it away from water and cosmetics.
